Bézier curves that are close to elastica
We study the problem of identifying those cubic Bézier curves that are close in the L2 norm to planar elastic curves. We identify an easily computable quantity, which we call the λ residual eλ , that accurately predicts a small L2 distance. Using this, we identify geometric criteria on the control polygon that guarantee that a Bézier curve is within 1% of its arc-length to an elastic curve. Fin...
متن کاملTENSION QUARTIC TRIGONOMETRIC BÉZIER CURVES PRESERVING INTERPOLATION CURVES SHAPE
In this paper simple quartic trigonometric polynomial blending functions, with a tensionparameter, are presented. These type of functions are useful for constructing trigonometricB´ezier curves and surfaces, they can be applied to construct continuous shape preservinginterpolation spline curves with shape parameters. To better visualize objects and graphics atension parameter is included. In th...

متن کاملThe CAT Bézier Curves
A class of cubic Bézier-type curves based on the blending of algebraic and trigonometric polynomials, briefly CAT Bézier curves, is presented in this paper. The CAT Bézier curves retain the main superiority of cubic Bézier curves. The CAT Bézier curves can approximate the Bézier curves from the both sides, and the shapes of the curves can be adjusted totally or locally. With the shape parameter...
متن کاملBézier Curves and Surfaces
Computer-aided geometric design (CAGD) is the design of geometrical shapes using computer technology, and is used extensively in many applications, such as the automotive, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries, architectural design, and computer animation. A popular way of modelling geometry in CAGD is to represent the outer surface, or curve, of the object as a patchwork of parametric polynom...
